About the Author

LaVonne Jones Helmer heard many of the pioneer stories that she used in "Faith's Story from her grandmother and great-aunt.  They had been pioneers of Dakota Territory as young girls when their parents were first settlers on the prairies of Dakota.

Helmer has been a schoolteacher and a farm wife, as well as working for a newspaper.  She has earned two Masters degrees along with her life-time teaching certificate.

Most important of all she is the mother of four wonderful children, a son and three daughters, who are all college graduates.  She has six grandsons and one granddaughter and a great-grandson and a great-granddaughter.

Helmer is community minded and is active in her church, and a member of several service clubs which promote the betterment of people.

Her hobbies include an addiction to reading, which mainly consists of biographies, histories, and best sellers.  She also enjoys playing bridge and taking part in social activities.  She also likes to travel.

Writing is something she feels compelled to do.  She hopes it reaches you, touches you and causes you to think.
